Daisy Buchanan, tom turkey Buchanan, Jordan Baker, and Jay Gatsby were your typical 1920s socialites In The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. These characters battle greater contend for money or a love for each other.
Daisy has fatigued her whole life being a rich, spoiled socialite. So when she met Gatsby before he had made his money she knew she had to block push through her feelings for him. Daisy had been raised to marry for money and keep her familys trope involved in old money and lavish events. Doing differently was soci altogethery unacceptable.
When Daisy met Tom she may have once love or still was in love with Gatsby, however Toms old money and social spot was all that mattered to her. I dont think social location and money are as important to Daisy as maintaining her nature and following through with what her family expects of her. Gatsby on the other cut into is the exact opposite. He was born in the middle class and his parents supported whatever he lacked to do. After beholding though what Daisy would want of him if she ever were to consider marrying him, he knew he had to become rich and of high social status.
