In this assigning we will be looking at the social cost to psychological science relating to conformity. We will be evaluating and researching into several different studies, Sherif (1935), Solomon Asch 1907) and Moscovici (1960) and how and wherefore all individuals conform. Looking at the different tastes and how the ethical standards of psychology would not permit the following studies to be conducted today.
The Dictionary of psychology defines conformity as generally allowing one persons opinions or views to be affected by prevailing opinions, actions, attitudes and perception of others. Also conformity is defined as the need and desire to go on with others either alone or in a group. This is so you argon accepted in a group and are not left out. As stated in (psychology today) it is a tendency to align your attitudes and behaviors with those who are around you. It can as well as cause social pressure.

I feel in relation to the above references, in my opinion conformity is passing along with group norms, being persuaded to follow others and to fit in with group normality and socially being influenced by others. This relates intimately to a famous psychologist Crutchfield (1954) who defined conformity as docile to group pressure.




The first contain was performed by psychologist Sherif (1935). His assume of the social approach was to show how conformity reflects on the mass of social influence. Sherif used a laboratory experiment to study conformity.
