Water Conductance Lab

You go forthing be doing two different labs.

The first, water Conductance, will be to learn how to use a conductivity measuring and hear the concentration of an unknown solution.

The second, Salt Content, is to determine the coarseness of a water sample.  You will write your one overlay on the two methods to determine the salinity content in solutions.

Water Conductance & Salt Content   100 points
Upon successful closing of this module, the student will be able to determine the conductance and the heart and soul salt content of unknown sample.

Water Conductance
Conductance of an aqueous solution is a measure of its ability to sustain an electrical electric current.  Pure water conducts a current so small relative to city or well water, that we sidereal day it does not conduct.  Put a little salt in it and it becomes a conductor.  [See the Light Bulb experiment   http://www.youtube.com/ date?

v=UHYWIM8AbPE]  Conductance is inversely proportional to the resistance to current flow.  The social unit of conductance is seimen (S).  The unit of resistance is ohm (?).
Conductivity is measured by putting a flash-frozen voltage across two metal plates, which lose a fixed area and which are a fixed distance apart. The electric current that flows between the two electrodes varies as the conductivity of the solution changes. This variation in the flow of current is measured by a conductivity meter and is displayed as a conductivity reading.
You will be using ppm (part per million) for units of concentration.   This is a way of expressing very dilute concentrations of substances. One ppm is equivalent to 1 milligram of something per...If you want to get a full essay, state it on our website: Ordercustompaper.com
