The Career Of Becoming A Doctor Essay - 1873 Words

The career that I have chosen to pursue is an Internist (General Physician). In kindergarten, Mrs.Knowles asked, â€Å"What do you want to be when you grow up†? My answer was to become a doctor; little did I know that career goal would stick with me for the rest of my life. Growing up, seeing my mother and godmother on their way to becoming medical assistants began to enhance my interest in the medical field.Skimming through their textbooks amazed me on how the human body is so complex yet so captivating. Getting accepted to Hillcrest High School’s Pre-Med Program made me ecstatic. The rigorous science and advanced mathematics courses were beginning to prepare me for my future endeavours. My academic interest in becoming a doctor was evident, but soon, there was an emotional connection. August 31, 2015 is a day I will never forget. My mom had just gotten into a car accident; there were a million thoughts and emotions rushing through me. Arriving at the hospital, I was s cared but anxious to see her. When I walked into the room, tears immediately came to my eyes seeing her in a neck brace. Initially, I thought she was in stable condition because she only complained only about a slight back pain. What happened a few moments after she said those words will never be erased from my mind. My mother had a seizure right before my eyes. The doctors rushed in as I remained speechless; it felt as if everything around me was moving but I could not hear a thing.
