Fingerbone is a dreary little town that is devoted to flooding and misfortune. The story begins by explaining how their grandfather was k naughtilyed in a train wreck. More hardship comes when their mother borrows their neighbors elevator car and drives it moody a cliff. After their mothers suicide Lily and Nora come to dish up drum the main character Ruthie, and her sister Lucille. Not in short later on the grandmothers feel they are ill suited to raise twain young girls and send for their aunty Sylvie to come live with them. The girls soon discover their aunt is a lot different than the just resident of Fingerbone. She has an unnecessary allow for of newspapers and tin cans, and she doesnt like to consider the lights on in the house.
