Campaigns And Elections

In 1960 the United States of America was in the pre stage for what would be the most important period of its illustrious history. Fresh from the Korean War and memories of World War II not as well far behind, this new world super power had many questions that needed to be answered. The country wondered how the economy would start weeping again, how America would defeat communism with Cuba in its back yard, would our coffer and missile programs be surpassed by the soviets. Before these questions could be answered, the someone who would answer these questions had to come first. With these issues at bay America looked to the 1960 presidential election as one of the most important elections invariably and the closest election since 1916 (wikipedia.com, 2005). Two candidates emerged with well slamn names, news reports, armed forces machine backgrounds and govern mental experience, making the pair angel candidates. Richard Nixon a motive congressman and current Vice cha irwoman under Dwight Eisenhower, was the republican troupe candidate. Going against Nixon was Massach officetts Senator conjuring trick F. Kennedy who even with his Catholic back ground rallied the Democratic Party for their candidacy. These devil men were almost identical in reputation and political clout, what could mayhap set them apart for the voters to decide? In September and October of 1960 the two candidates participated in the really first serial of nationally televised debates. During these debates a young, attractive, ener channelic Kennedy impressed the audience with charisma and composure. Nixon unluckily looked real tense, sweaty and unshaven compared to his composed counter part. It was at this microscope stage that umpteen American decided Kennedy would be their next president. Those who listened to the debates on radio receiver felt Nixon had won the debates, but Nixon hush up lost the 1960 presidential election to Kennedy in a very close race, ever-chang ing American politics as we know it.
