Baroque is an artistic style developed in Europe, generally dominant from the 16th century
to the 18th century, often express dramatic curving forms, elaborate ornamentation, and
overall balance of disparate parts. There is one man that fully developed and master this style,
and his name is Diego Velazquez. His pastures were separated into three categories. These were
the bodegón, which comprised everyday subjects unite with still life, portraits, and religious

Born in Seville, Velazquezs parents were of inferior brilliance. Once he turned twelve years of age, he began an apprenticeship which lasted five years. During this time, he learned how to thread perspective and proportion accurately (Quazen). later turning eighteen, the Seville Painters golf-club certified him as a master painter, which in turn, gave him the independence to work as a qualified artist.



As a result, he spent his years doing various religious paintings, tavern pieces known as bodegónes and random aristocratic portraits (don Quijote). However, Velazquez wanted to let down his fate as a middle class man. He knew that becoming a painter of the royal court would be the best way to lead him into a life of nobility and appraisal. Thus, he realized that working in the royal courts of capital of Spain would lift him from his working class status (don Quijote).
When Velazquez moved to Madrid, his skill in art enabled him to become a court painter.
