Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been?
In the narrative, Where are you going, where have you been by Joyce Carol Oates, she introduces good and villainy through the main characters. Arnold Friend is portrayed as the evil, speckle Connie represents the good in the story. In the portion of the story, a emplacement arises where Arnold arrives at Connies home, unannounced. Many things are bizarre ab extinct the way Arnold presents himself. Whether it is how he looks, whom he is with, what is on the car he is driving, or his tone and manner towards people.
The encounter at source is very peculiar because not only did Arnold show up without mentioning anything to Connie; she did not recognize him until he was to the house. Then she realized that it was a boy she had met the other night. The author describes Arnold as an 18 twelvemonth old, odd look boy and she mentions that he has shaggy blackamoor hair, that almost looks like a wig. Arnold then care wide of the marky hold outs out of the car, possibly because he doesnt have the best of balance. When he finally gets out of the car to greet Connie, who is still indoors the house, he plants his feet firmly with no intentions of moving. Connie matchms to find it strange that he must balance himself up against the side of the car.
The author as well describes the type of clothes he is wearing, mentioning his high boots and tight, slightly mardiffident attire. Over all Arnold just seems to be an unusual looking boy, with characteristics that dont match the norm, his friend also fits this strange look.
Arnolds friends name is Ellie, the author depicts him as a boy with comely brown hair but still a pugnacious look because of his sideburns. Ellie didnt bother to look at Connie or so it seems, he was wearing sunglasses and you couldnt see exactly where he was looking. He also doesnt get the chance to introduce himself, because Arnold does it for him.
