Holden is all upset about his fight with Stradlater. He decides to be n tripe to Ackley, whom he hates, to get his mind off of Stradlater and Jane.

Holden abilityve felt this because of all the things he messed up. He let go of a girl he used to like, got in a fight with his roommate, and got kicked out of yet another school. Either this or the fact that Holden cant actually connect with anybody would desex him feel like this. He feels although hes existing amongst phony people and cant really chew up to anyone.

He feels very depressed while at Pency because of his inability to connect with anyone there, or because hes be kicked out and will miss it.



Holden decides to stay at a hotel sooner where he can relax and not have to count with anyone at Percy anymore.

Holden feels sad every time he receives a present because he feels although he didnt deserve it. For example, the ice skates his mother took the time to buy, and now hes being kicked out. He feels like he let her down.

Holden gives a dodge name so he wouldnt have to down on his life to this woman. He also mightve granted this name to avoid being embarrassed if her son knew who she was really sitting next to.

The main reason Holden lies to her is because hes bored and he has a skill for lying. But I also think he lies to her to make her feel untroubled about her son.
